Horseback trail ride on the Michigan Riding and Hiking Trail with us, 240 miles of beautiful scenery, with advice on trail riding, trail etiquette and camping with horses. You've come to the home page of a truly horse crazy family. We aren't into showing (except 4-H), endurance riding, jumping, driving, etc.-- but we certainly enjoy trail riding! The purpose of this page is to provide a reference for one of the best back to nature rides we've ever experienced. The main trail, which extends across the state from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron, is approximately 240 miles in length. A North spur starts near the Mackinac Bridge and joins the main trail near Luzerne. A South spur starts near Cadillac and joins the main trail about 50 miles to the north. It is an incredibly beautiful ride. You are welcomed to share some of our family's riding experiences, on the Michigan Riding and Hiking Trail! If,along the way, we convince you to try out the trails or support the idea that some people find the best way for getting close to nature is to view it from the back of a horse, we will have accomplished our goal.

Having several years of trail riding experience behind us we would also like to offer a few tips and advice for those just getting started. We hope these pointers about horse camping, trail riding and trail etiquette will enable others, as they venture to the trails, to be able to fully and safely enjoy the experience as much as we do.

Please send us your comments trailrider@tm.net and feel free to include your trail experiences. We are always interested in talking about trail riding and checking out other's pictures, especially during the winter. During the summer we are usually busy riding but be patient, we will reply! Please put the word " horse " in your subject line if you want a prompt response. We've had so much spam that we have set our email filter to move everything from people not in our address book to a junk mail folder which we only scan before deleting. Thanks for your understanding!
