Secondary Coil
This is a shot of the secondary being wound with 694 turns of 18 gauge
magnet wire. The coil form is a 32" length of 8" diameter polycarbonate
tubing. The wire was looped once around a spare piece of 2" polycarbonate
tubing to provide tension as it was being fed onto the rotating coil form.
The winding jig was made from a 7 rpm gear motor, two UHMW polyethylene
pillow blocks and a 42" X 1/2" steel shaft mounted on some two by fours.
The motor, shaft and pillow blocks came from McMaster-Carr
Supply Co. The top end of the secondary coil form is capped with a
polycarbonate disk, epoxied in place.
