A Closer Look at Jewish Community Services

Jewish Community Services is dedicated to helping all people in our community lead independent, fulfilling lives.

The agency began in 1936 under the auspices of the Flint Jewish Community Council.  In 1987, it was established as an independent non-profit organization to provide social services to the Jewish and general communities in all of Genesee and parts of Lapeer, Shiawassee & Oakland Counties.  In 1992, we changed our name to Jewish Family and Children's Services, to reflect more accurately our mission. In 2001, we changed our name to Jewish Community Services, to more accurately reflect who we serve.

Jewish Community Services works closely with other community agencies to improve the quality of life. We take an active role in community projects and promoting cooperation among local organizations.

The mission of Jewish Community Services is to foster Jewish continuity, unity and cultural enrichment; to provide social services; and to promote the well being of the Jewish and general communities.
